Who is A Very Badd Idea?
A Very BADD Idea started with exactly that — an idea most people would have called a bad one. Building a production company from nothing, in Pretoria, without a studio behind you, rarely looks sensible on paper. We built it anyway.
Our Approach
Our Story
Founded in 2020 by Gomolemo Brian Moyo, A Very BADD Idea sets out to give people good material to read and watch – nothing more complicated than that. Every project since has been self-funded, built one script, one song, and one story at a time.
What We Believe
The industry keeps handing audiences reruns and reboots. We think people deserve better than a replica of something that’s already been done. A Very BADD Idea exists to put fresh, authentic material in front of the people still willing to read a book, watch a film, or listen to an album all the way through.
Where We’re Headed
In the next three to five years, we intend to be known as one of the emerging production companies making writing content the world hasn’t consumed before — with an Oscar, a Pulitzer, and a billion-dollar film on the horizon. Bold targets, on purpose.
THE CINEMA SCREEN
The Sandton Story
Our first short film took four years to reach a cinema screen. Along the way, we lost a key innovator on the project during post-production. We finished the film in his honour — and it went on to sell out a cinema in Sandton. That’s the standard every project since has had to meet.
THE BRAIN BEHIND AVBI
Meet the Founder
Gomolemo Brian Moyo is an innovator with two published books, a limited series, a short film, and a music album to his name. This isn’t a side project; it’s a calling.
